♦ PROPERTY TAXES: Property taxes were due on Thursday, October 10, 2019 by 4 p.m. Postmarks are not accepted. Contact the Treasurer, Mary Lou Jacobs, at 744-2484 for information on paying late taxes.


♦ The Town Offices will be closed on Monday, October 14th in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day (formerly known as Columbus Day). The office will reopen on Tuesday at 8 a.m.


♦ SPECIAL ELECTION FOR THE WESTFIELD TOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT: There will be a special election on November 12, 2019 by Australian ballot at the Westfield Community Center, 59 North Hill Road. Click on the links below for complete details about the article to be voted on.

The Westfield Town School Board will hold an Informational Meeting on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 6 p.m. at the Jay-Westfield Joint Elementary School, 257 Revoir Flat Road in Jay. This meeting shall constitute the Public Informational Meeting required by 17 V.S.A. 2680(G).

Polls will be open at 9 a.m and close at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12th. The votes will be commingled with Jays votes.

♦ SELECTBOARD CHANGE OF MEETING DAY/TIME: The Selectboard will now meet the third Monday each month for their regular monthly meeting (previously the second Monday).  The time has also changed from 6 p.m. to 5 p.m. Contact the Town Clerk if you would like an item on the agenda. 


♦ WESTFIELD COMMUNITY MEALSITE FOR OCTOBER:Image result for fall leaves

All are invited to enjoy a community lunch every Thursday at Noon at the Westfield Community Center (North Hill Rd./School St.) A donation of $4/person is requested with the 2nd Thursday of the month FREE. Special thanks to Berry Creek Farm and its CSA members for once again providing a harvest of fresh fruits and vegetables during this growing season.

♦ October 3rd – Juice, Pasta with Italian Sausage, Beets, Rolls and Chocolate Zucchini Cake

October 10th (free meal) – Juice, Baked Ham, Squash, Mashed Potatoes, Whole Grain Bread, Cupcakes and Ice Cream

♦ October 17th – Juice, Chicken Alfredo, Carrots, Noodles, Rolls and Cherry Cobbler

♦ October 24th – Juice, Shepherd’s Pie, Roasted Broccoli, Rolls and Apple Crisp

A free RSVP Bone Builders Balancing and Strengthening Class meets weekly before the meal from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Following lunch join the fun and play Bingo and card games!

♦ DOG LICENSES ARE DUE BY APRIL 1ST EACH YEAR:

As mandated by Vermont state law, DOG LICENSES are due on or before April 1st each year. All dogs residing in Vermont are required to be licensed in the town where the animal lives. Proof of rabies vaccination is required prior to licensing. Licenses are purchased at the Town Clerk’s office.

Fees for licensing on or before April 1:
Spayed/Neutered $9; Unspayed/Unneutered $13

Fees for licensing after April 1:
Spayed/Neutered $11; Unspayed/Unneutered $17.

For your convenience, checks for license fees can be left in the secure drop box next to the Town Clerk’s front door. Once processed your dog’s license/tags will be sent to you by return mail.

♦ NOTICE TO HOMEOWNERS: Homestead Declaration are to be filed each year by every Vermont resident whose property meets the definition of a homestead. A Vermont homestead is the principal dwelling and parcel of land surrounding the dwelling, owned and occupied by a resident individual as the individual’s domicile on April 1. If your homestead is leased to a tenant on April 1, you may still claim it as a homestead if it is not leased for more than 182 days in the 2016 calendar year.
