♦ PROPERTY TAXES DUE
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10th:

Friendly reminder that property taxes are due by
4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. Postmarks are not accepted. Visit the Property Tax page for more information. Call 802-744-2484 if you have not received your tax bill. 


♦ PUMPKIN CARVING & DECORATING PARTY: 

Join us for a Pumpkin Carving & Decorating Party at the Hitchcock Memorial Museum & Library (1252 VT Route 100) in Westfield on Saturday, October 20th from Noon to 2 p.m. This is a free, family-fun activity for all ages. RSVP’s are appreciated to the Librarian, MaryLee Daigle, 744-8258, to ensure we have enough pumpkins for all of our friends.

Plan to stop by for Trick or Treating on Halloween night!


♦ FLU CLINIC – OCTOBER 18th:

There will be a Flu Clinic sponsored by the Orleans Essex VNA on Thursday, October 18th from 10 a.m. until Noon at the Westfield Community Center, 59 North Hill Rd. (at School St.) For more information contact the Westfield Town Clerk’s office at 744-2484 or VNA at 334-5213.

♦ GENERAL ELECTION – NOVEMBER 6, 2018: 

Visit the My Voter web page at www.mvp.sec.state.vt.us/ to register online to vote or request an absentee/early ballot or stop by the Town Clerk’s Office 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for early/absentee ballots now through November 5th at 4 p.m. 

Westfield voters can cast their ballots at the Westfield Community Center, 59 North Hill Road (at School St.), on Election Day, November 6th, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Same day voter registration is available at the polls.

♦ WESTFIELD COMMUNITY MEALSITE MENU FOR OCTOBER: 

All are invited to enjoy a community lunch every Thursday at Noon at the Westfield Community Center (North Hill Rd./School St.) A donation of $4/person is requested with the 2nd Thursday of the month FREE. Special thanks to Berry Creek Farm and its CSA members for once again providing a harvest of fresh fruits and vegetables during this growing season.  

  • October 4th – Juice, Pasta with Italian Sausage, Beets, Rolls and Chocolate Chip Cookies
    October 11th (Free – No Donation Requested) – Juice, Roast Pork, Apple Sauce, Squash, Mashed Potatoes, Whole Grain Bread and Bread Pudding
  • October 18th – Juice, Chicken Marsala, Carrots, Noodles, Rolls and Cookies and Ice Cream
  • October 25th – Juice, Shepherd’s Pie, Vegetable Medley, Rolls, and L and M Dessert

A free RSVP Bone Builders Balancing and Strengthening Class meets weekly before the meal from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Following lunch join the fun and play Bingo and card games!

♦ DOG LICENSES ARE DUE BY APRIL 1ST EACH YEAR:

As mandated by Vermont state law, DOG LICENSES are due on or before April 1st each year. All dogs residing in Vermont are required to be licensed in the town where the animal lives. Proof of rabies vaccination is required prior to licensing. Licenses are purchased at the Town Clerk’s office.

Fees for licensing on or before April 1:
Spayed/Neutered $9; Unspayed/Unneutered $13

Fees for licensing after April 1:
Spayed/Neutered $11; Unspayed/Unneutered $17.

For your convenience, checks for license fees can be left in the secure drop box next to the Town Clerk’s front door. Once processed your dog’s license/tags will be sent to you by return mail.

♦ NOTICE TO HOMEOWNERS: Homestead Declaration are to be filed each year by every Vermont resident whose property meets the definition of a homestead. A Vermont homestead is the principal dwelling and parcel of land surrounding the dwelling, owned and occupied by a resident individual as the individual’s domicile on April 1. If your homestead is leased to a tenant on April 1, you may still claim it as a homestead if it is not leased for more than 182 days in the 2016 calendar year.
