♦ OFFICE CLOSED: 

  • The Town Offices will be closed on Monday, November 12th in observance of Veteran’s Day.  The office will reopen on Tuesday, November 13th. There will still be a Selectboard Meeting on Monday, November 12th. Happy Veterans Day!
  • The Town Offices will be closed on Thursday, November 22nd in observance of Thanksgiving. The office will reopen on Monday, November 26th at 8 a.m.

♦ JAY WESTFIELD JOINT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (JWJES) 2018 FALL FORUM: 

Kristy Ellis, Jay/Westfield Elementary School Principal invites all Jay & Westfield residents to kick off school budget prep for the 2020 school year. 
Join Students, Teachers, and Board Members to hear about our learning opportunities and collectively share our hopes and dreams for the children of Jay and Westfield.

The intention of this meeting is to highlight the awesome learning/teaching here at JWJES, lean forward into the future, and address questions regarding the political context of act 46 and what that might mean for JW.

 ♦ WESTFIELD COMMUNITY MEALSITE MENU FOR NOVEMBER: 

All are invited to enjoy a community lunch every Thursday at Noon at the Westfield Community Center (North Hill Rd./School St.) A donation of $4/person is requested with the 2nd Thursday of the month FREE. Special thanks to Berry Creek Farm and its CSA members for once again providing a harvest of fresh fruits and vegetables during this growing season.  

  • November 1st – Juice, Spaghetti and Meatballs, Salad, Garlic Bread and Brownies
  • November 8th (Free – No Donation Requested) – Juice, Baked Ham, Scalloped Potatoes, Carrots, Rolls and Apple Cake
  • November 15th – Juice, TURKEY DINNER! 
  • November 22nd – Happy Thanksgiving. No mealsite today. 
  • November 29th – Juice, Meat Loaf, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Corn, Rolls and Pineapple Upside Down Cake

A free RSVP Bone Builders Balancing and Strengthening Class meets weekly before the meal from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Following lunch join the fun and play Bingo and card games!

♦ DOG LICENSES ARE DUE BY APRIL 1ST EACH YEAR:

As mandated by Vermont state law, DOG LICENSES are due on or before April 1st each year. All dogs residing in Vermont are required to be licensed in the town where the animal lives. Proof of rabies vaccination is required prior to licensing. Licenses are purchased at the Town Clerk’s office.

Fees for licensing on or before April 1:
Spayed/Neutered $9; Unspayed/Unneutered $13

Fees for licensing after April 1:
Spayed/Neutered $11; Unspayed/Unneutered $17.

For your convenience, checks for license fees can be left in the secure drop box next to the Town Clerk’s front door. Once processed your dog’s license/tags will be sent to you by return mail.

♦ NOTICE TO HOMEOWNERS: Homestead Declaration are to be filed each year by every Vermont resident whose property meets the definition of a homestead. A Vermont homestead is the principal dwelling and parcel of land surrounding the dwelling, owned and occupied by a resident individual as the individual’s domicile on April 1. If your homestead is leased to a tenant on April 1, you may still claim it as a homestead if it is not leased for more than 182 days in the 2016 calendar year.
