♦ PROPERTY TAXES: Property taxes were due on Thursday, October 10, 2019 by 4 p.m. Postmarks are not accepted. Contact the Treasurer, Mary Lou Jacobs, at 744-2484 for information on paying late taxes.


 ♦ SELECTBOARD MEETING CHANGES FOR DECEMBER & JANUARY: 

  • There will be a special Selectboard meeting to discuss and take public comment on converting Taft Brook Road to a dead-end road. The meeting will take place on Monday, December 2nd at 6 p.m. at the Town Office, 38 School Street.

  • The regular, 3rd Monday of the month Selectboard meeting, has been cancelled for December. 
  • The regular monthly Selectboard meeting for January 20, 2020, has been cancelled. 
  • The Selectboard will meet on January 8th at 8 a.m. and January 23rd at 8 a.m. at the Town Office to set the budget for 2020 and to draft the Warning for Town Meeting. 

♦ TOWN OFFICE CLOSED: Thanksgiving Day: November 28 – reopen on Monday, December 2nd at 8 a.m.


♦ VILLAGE CENTER DESIGNATION:

♦ SELECTBOARD CHANGE OF MEETING DAY/TIME: The Selectboard will now meet the third Monday each month for their regular monthly meeting (previously the second Monday).  The time has also changed from 6 p.m. to 5 p.m. Contact the Town Clerk if you would like an item on the agenda.  


♦ WESTFIELD COMMUNITY MEALSITE FOR DECEMBER:

All are invited to enjoy a community lunch every Thursday at Noon at the Westfield Community Center (North Hill Rd./School St.) A donation of $4/person is requested with the 2nd Thursday of the month FREE. Special thanks to Berry Creek Farm and its CSA members for once again providing a harvest of fresh fruits and vegetables during this growing season.

♦ December 5th – Juice, Chicken Bordelaise with Biscuits, Red Potatoes, Carrots,  Dessert by Eric

♦ December 12th – (free meal) Juice, Spaghetti & Meat Balls,  Garden salad, Garlic bread, Fruit cocktail cake with chocolate sauce.

♦ December 19th  – Juice,  Turkey dinner, Rolls, Apple Cupcakes

♦ December 26th – MERRY CHRISTMAS (no meal)

A free RSVP Bone Builders Balancing and Strengthening Class meets weekly before the meal from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Following lunch join the fun and play Bingo and card games!

♦ DOG LICENSES ARE DUE BY APRIL 1ST EACH YEAR:

As mandated by Vermont state law, DOG LICENSES are due on or before April 1st each year. All dogs residing in Vermont are required to be licensed in the town where the animal lives. Proof of rabies vaccination is required prior to licensing. Licenses are purchased at the Town Clerk’s office.

Fees for licensing on or before April 1:
Spayed/Neutered $9; Unspayed/Unneutered $13

Fees for licensing after April 1:
Spayed/Neutered $11; Unspayed/Unneutered $17.

For your convenience, checks for license fees can be left in the secure drop box next to the Town Clerk’s front door. Once processed your dog’s license/tags will be sent to you by return mail.

♦ NOTICE TO HOMEOWNERS: Homestead Declaration are to be filed each year by every Vermont resident whose property meets the definition of a homestead. A Vermont homestead is the principal dwelling and parcel of land surrounding the dwelling, owned and occupied by a resident individual as the individual’s domicile on April 1. If your homestead is leased to a tenant on April 1, you may still claim it as a homestead if it is not leased for more than 182 days in the 2016 calendar year.
