♦ TOWN OFFICE CLOSED: The Town Offices will be closed on Monday, January 21st in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The office will reopen on Tuesday, January 22nd at 8 a.m. 

♦ SELECTBOARD CANCELLATION NOTICE: The regular 2nd Monday of the month Selectboard Meeting scheduled for January 14th is cancelled. There will be a Special Selectboard Meeting on January 22nd at 8 a.m. to approve the Selectboard Proposed Budget and Warning for Town Meeting 2019.  The Special Selectboard Meeting Agenda will be posted on the Meeting Minutes/Agendas webpage 48 hours prior to the meeting. 

♦ AUDITORS MEETING: The Auditors will begin auditing the 2018 town financial records on January 16th at 9 a.m. and will reconvene each day through January 18th, as needed. The Auditors report will be presented at the January 22nd Special Selectboard Meeting and will be printed in the 2018 Town and School Report. 


  • January 26th: Kids Pottery Workshop at the Hitchcock Museum and Library from 1 to 3 p.m. Children will have an opportunity to create a simple structured pottery piece that will be kiln fired. They can return the following week and paint their item which will then be kiln fired again before it is ready to take home. Class size is limited to 20 children (accompanied by an adult). There is a $10/per child clay/kiln fee for this workshop. RSVP’s appreciated to Mary Lee Daigle at the Library, 744-8258.
  • February 2nd: Valentine Making Workshop at the Hitchcock Museum and Library from 1 to 3 p.m. Stop by and make beautiful, handcrafted Valentines for your family and friends. Children who attended the Pottery Workshop can also paint their creations at this workshop.

♦ UPCOMING RABIES CLINIC: There will be a Rabies Clinic sponsored by the Animal Doctor (Dr. Selena Hunter) at the Westfield Community Center on Saturday, March 23 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. All communities are invited to attend. Cats are welcome! For more information call the Westfield Town Clerk, 744-2484. 

♦ NEW TOWN PLAN ADOPTED: The Selectboard adopted the proposed Town Plan on January 7, 2019. Special thanks to Planning Commission members and NVDA for their months of tireless work to update the plan. The Town also thanks those residents who participated in the Community Survey. The input received was invaluable to the updating process. Thank you to all who helped create this visionary plan for the Town for the next eight years!

All are invited to enjoy a community lunch every Thursday at Noon at the Westfield Community Center (North Hill Rd./School St.) A donation of $4/person is requested with the 2nd Thursday of the month FREE. Special thanks to Berry Creek Farm and its CSA members for once again providing a harvest of fresh fruits and vegetables during this growing season.

A free RSVP Bone Builders Balancing and Strengthening Class meets weekly before the meal from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Following lunch join the fun and play Bingo and card games!

As mandated by Vermont state law, DOG LICENSES are due on or before April 1st each year. All dogs residing in Vermont are required to be licensed in the town where the animal lives. Proof of rabies vaccination is required prior to licensing. Licenses are purchased at the Town Clerk’s office.

Fees for licensing on or before April 1:
Spayed/Neutered $9; Unspayed/Unneutered $13

Fees for licensing after April 1:
Spayed/Neutered $11; Unspayed/Unneutered $17.

For your convenience, checks for license fees can be left in the secure drop box next to the Town Clerk’s front door. Once processed your dog’s license/tags will be sent to you by return mail.

♦ NOTICE TO HOMEOWNERS: Homestead Declaration are to be filed each year by every Vermont resident whose property meets the definition of a homestead. A Vermont homestead is the principal dwelling and parcel of land surrounding the dwelling, owned and occupied by a resident individual as the individual’s domicile on April 1. If your homestead is leased to a tenant on April 1, you may still claim it as a homestead if it is not leased for more than 182 days in the 2016 calendar year.
